Housebuilding Tips Build or wait
September 04, 2011
Dear Friends

Do we build or wait?

September 2011

The housing and financial markets have everyone perplexed right now. Those people who want to build a new home are afraid to do so because of the unstable job market.

It seems that people are waiting to build hoping that this financial storm will blow over. I don't see an end to the weak housing market for many years.

I saw this coming about six years ago and even wrote a book about it. This E book is free by the way. The link to all my free E books for my newsletter subscribers is at the bottom of this article.

There are a few right and wrong things about building a home right now that I need to bring to light.

First of all, if you want to have a home built for you by a contractor, be prepared for the home's value to be less than the cost of construction once it is finished.

In short, now is a bad time to build a home through contracted labor. You'd be better off buying an older home which has lost half it's value through the housing recession. Some of these homes are only a few years old, so many bargains are to be found.

Now if you plan on doing your own labor the story is very different. That's because the cost of building materials are low because of the surplus of homes on the market.

This is also a good way to get the home plan you want. It's also a way to build a home for less than half the cost of a contractor-built home.

In these uncertain times it makes a lot of sense to do your own labor. That way you get a home with low payments.

Good luck with all your building projects,

Larry Angell
