These days everyone wants to build-a-fish-pond in their yard. It's so relaxing to just sit there and watch the fish casually swim around. The process of building the pond isn't very hard.
There are certain kinds of fish that are extremely hearty that most people prefer to have in their ponds. Koi is one of these types.

The type of fish pond you can have depends on your climate. If you have temperatures below freezing, you might not want to have koi. Modern landscaping ponds use a pond liner so the water doesn't seep into the ground.

The pond liner membrane is really tough so it should easily puncture. Still you need to be careful while laying the rocks and gravel on it. Fill it up before you get all the rocks on it to make sure it holds water.

You can also make a waterfall that will put oxygen into the water and the fish will do much better.

You can lay the stones carefully in order to make a nice waterfall or the edge of your pond. You can begin to put plants in after all the rocks and stones are in place.

There are so many variations of fish ponds and waterfalls.

You will need a pump
to circulate the water if you have a waterfall.
