It seems that people ask me more for electrical-diagrams than anything else. Wiring a home can seem intimidating and if you have any apprehension at all, you should hire a professional electrician.
As long as a homeowner follows code and uses good diagrams for residential wiring, he or she should be able to do the job themselves and do it well. No matter what, be safe by turning off all breakers and circuits before doing electrical work. Also make sure to communicate to others what you are doing.
Before you get started, make sure that your state, city, or county allows homeowners to do their own electrical systems. By all means, don’t work on energized lines and circuits. There’s no reason to be working with live power.
OK, so I’ve thrown together an electrical quick guide as a download file for anyone who wants it. It’s a 16MB file, so it takes awhile to download. Please be patient.
I have included a lot of the more common electrical circuits, diagrams, formulas, and codes for residential wiring.
You can download the quick guide at my
