A chart of modern electrical-symbols for any electrical contractor or do-it-yourselfer

Here's some modern electrical-symbols used frequently by any electrical contractor or do-it-yourselfer. These include some of the more involved applications that aren't used in normal residential wiring.

Architects like to put all the blueprint symbols in to make the plans more descriptive. They are quite difficult to understand sometimes. An experienced electrical contractor will already know what they mean, but anybody can figure it out.

These outlets are only for normal-to-high-voltage electricity, the low-voltage and data port network outlets like phone jacks and TV cable jacks are different and so they go in a different category called "communications".
