Think you're not strong enough? Women with an interior-design-idea shouldn't feel held back

When you have a good interior-design-idea and you want to do as much work on your home as possible, will you be limited by your strength? You might think it has a lot to do with your ability to build a home, but it doesn't.

The truth is that if something is too heavy for a woman to lift alone, a man probably shouldn't lift it alone either.

The lumber isn't really very heavy because short lengths are used. The cement work is heavy for everyone, but it is poured in place so no lifting is necessary.

Windows and doors aren't very heavy, but they can be awkward. Plywood can be quite heavy and difficult to manage when the sheathing is being put on.

The one thing that is difficult is the sheetrock. The roof panels are twelve feet long. With the proper tools though, anyone can do drywall.

As with most things in life, strength doesn't matter as much as endurance. Building a house takes a lot of endurance. There will always be tired muscles, aches and pains. It's good for you though, so that makes it a worth while thing to do right there.

Times have changed since the sixties. Most of us are aware that women in the workforce are there because they have to be there. We are all struggling for a better life.

I have worked along side of many women and some have become good friends. All the women I've worked with were not out to prove a point to men. They just needed the money like the rest of us.
