Beautify your yard with landscape-ponds and plantlife and other water features
The new style of landscape-ponds and water features are very creative and quite expensive if you have them professionally built. You can always go and get a black, plastic landscaping pond from Home depot or Lowes and then add some dirt or block around it.

There's no comparison, though, to a professionally built landscaping pond. They last longer and will give more value to your home. Also the learning curve about plants and fish is something that takes owner/landscapers awhile to get through. Also, it's a good idea to use a filtration system to keep the water clean for fish and plant life. A filter system is like a big trough called a skimmer. The pump can sit inside of this so it isn't visible. If your pond has a waterfall, you most likely won't need an aeration device to put oxygen in the water. If you have a still pond then an aeration device will be needed. The more fish you have in the pond, the greater the amount of oxygen will need to be put in.

Koi ponds are really popular among the more affluent people in the United States. I think this tradition came from Japan, but I don't know very much about Koi. Fish ponds are a growing trend.

I could watch the Koi for hours. They seem so peaceful and add such a beautiful touch of color to a garden pond.
One of the best things about Koi is that they are really hearty and will continue to keep growing as long as they have minimal food, adequate water temperature, and no Pelicans. I can't stand pelicans!

I have seen some really gorgeous water gardens with so much creativity. Many landscapers are artists when it comes to water features, but homeowners can also do a beautiful job with a little planning.
