Some log-cabin-house-plans

I am trying to scrounge together log-cabin-house-plans of different types so we can get some good ideas. Log homes are fun and functional. Some say that log cabin homes are building "green".

My favorite log cabin plans are small cabins. Large cabins are rather hard to maintain because of the exterior surface. The logs need to be treated every few years or they will tarnish and rot.

Here are a few plans I got from a web site called Appalachian Log Homes. I really liked the simplicity of their designs, so I put some of their plans here.

The majority of log homes I see are summer homes. I live just about 50 miles Southwest of Yellowstone Park, so there are plenty of summer homes above the timber line.

Log homes are particularly durable in heavy snow loads, but I think people build them to match their surroundings in the forest.
