Sweat-Equity

Dear friends, the full version of my book is no longer available. In February of 2007, I had a heart attack, followed by heart surgery. I have since de-stressed my life and have removed from it anything that causes unnecessary pressure. I am integrating most of my book into this website so everyone can have it for free.
First of all, "Sweat-Equity, building a house at half cost", is a two part book. The first part I consider to be more important because it explains why we should build our own homes. It teaches us the benefits and explains the advantages of doing all the work. It's about 48 pages long.

That's the part I give away because so many people can benefit from it.

The second part of Sweat-Equity is a "how-to" build your own house book. It's about 200 pages long with lots of pics. It's important, complete, and it makes the building process much more understandable, but if a person doesn't have it, he or she can still build a house. I spent hundreds of dollars on books to get the complete information during my housebuilding projects, so this book really is a good bargain.

The important thing is to make the decision to build a house by yourself and that will benefit you in more ways than you can imagine.

Here are some actual pages from the book, Sweat-Equity, to better explain what it's about.

Sometimes we really feel like a sailboat in the ocean without a sail. The world just kind of tosses us all around and runs our lives.

Building your own house creates more than just a house, it creates a powerful financial tool with equity, it teaches valuable skills, and it gives a sense of accomplishment that you can be proud of.

These things are a way of grabbing hold of your life and directing your course. Suddenly you're filled with hope and confidence that you've never had before.

The whole time I was building my house, I had hope for my future. I was doing something positive and taking control of my life. It felt great!!! I could see the long term benefits and that opened up many different kinds of opportunities for me.

Building a house is challenging work. There's a lot to learn. Once the project is finished, you'll feel a sense of pride that will last for the rest of your life.

When you've worked really hard on your own home and you've passed the inspections, you will know every square inch of it. That gives a sense of confidence in your work and a sense of security that the job was done right.

You will also have a sense of financial security because of all the sweat-equity from your own labor. The work will pay off in many ways.

During the housebuilding process there will be some tasks that seem impossible to do. We all have moments like that in life. The good part is that there are many resources at your disposal. My book is an excellent resource. Local stores like Home Depot and Lowes are very valuable for information. Whatever the source of help you get, you will be able to solve the problem.

Confidence breeds more confidence. It's a sense of victory that you will have earned.

It feels awesome to create something of beauty and durability. When appraisers come in and put a dollar amount on your sweat-equity, it makes all the hard work worth it. When friends and family compliment you on your persistence and talents it will give a sense of fulfillment you've never had before.

As a modern world, we have been conditioned to leave the housebuilding to the professionals. We have been taught that it's fine to pay for the same house three times over thirty years. We are taught that we can expect to work for fifteen years of our lives just to pay for a home mortgage and ten of those years will be for interest only.

This book, sweat-equity, teaches how to take back what belongs to us, our money and our time. It belongs to us and we need it more than the wealthy people who run most people's lives.

Sweat-equity is about changing a part of our culture that needs to be changed.
